Seeking an eager assistant to help the CEO of a fast-growing start-up with the various responsibilities and complexities that come with that. The start-up company was just recognized as one of DC’s 50 fastest growing companies. The company has been at the forefront of both the tech-sector and the DC Government. The CEO has spoken at the Senate building and at George Washington University as an advocate for emerging internet opportunities. He also owns an IT consulting company volunteers as a mentor for a local non-profit and is a father of 4. This assistant would take care of administrative and other duties, freeing him to focus on managing those obligations.
The core duties of the executive assistant are administrative. You’ll primarily be managing the CEO’s agenda and organizing his calendar. Ensuring that meetings across town, country or planet are planned to allow him to attend on-time and prepared. You’ll have to schedule meetings and ensure notice goes out to all attendees. An important and recurring duty will be resolving conflicting appointments. You could also be asked to communicate on behalf of the CEO in those responses.
CEOs tend to travel frequently and it is often the responsibility of the executive assistant to arrange travel and logistics. This may include booking flights, car rental, and hotel accommodations. You would be responsible for arranging meetings, providing needed background information and completing expense reports for reimbursement after the trip.
You would be expected to proactively research topics relevant to the business and be ready with advice about business issues. For example, you may be asked for input in hiring important staff members based on your knowledge of the company. Or you may be the sounding board during brainstorming sessions.
In addition to having all of those extra skills that make you stand out, a good assistant needs essential basic skills. You should have impeccable time-management skills, strong scheduling expertise, and multitasking abilities. You must keep things running smoothly, especially during high-stress situations. When the boss is under pressure, you have to be the rock who keeps things together and thinks clearly.
