Local Property Management Company Great Dwellings Launches ‘Help Them Help Us’ Initiative to House & Support Frontline Healthcare Workers

Short-term rental provider to donate free and discounted stays near hospitals and healthcare facilities

WASHINGTON, DC, April 14, 2020 – Washington DC-based property management company, Great Dwellings, has announced today that it has opened its short-term rental listings to local medical and healthcare professionals who must travel or stay outside their homes amidst COVID-19. The new initiative, Help Them Help Us, offers these stays at discounted and/or free rates.

‘Help Them Help Us’ currently offers stays at properties in the DC area but is hoping to partner with other property management companies to expand into other cities. The organization will provide relief for healthcare professionals working to help combat COVID-19, including those working marathon shifts and excessive hours, as well as those who prefer not to return to their homes for fear of exposing their quarantined families to the virus, and those who simply live too far away to commute in an exhausted state.

Short-term rentals have helped provide relief to healthcare providers who need to quarantine or prefer to stay away from family members while they treat patients of the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Help Them Help Us’ aims to facilitate and alleviate some of the costs.

“Our company has a simple mission: Do Everything With Love,” says Karl Scarlett, Founder of Great Dwellings. “We are living through extraordinary times, and we have a responsibility to help where and when we can. As such, we have launched Help Them Help Us in an effort to aid those who are tirelessly devoting themselves to the community during this time of uncertainty.”

In order to ensure that stays limit human interaction, Great Dwellings has implemented keyless entry systems in 100% of their properties so guests can self-check-in sans any interaction with hosts. The company also utilizes auto-messaging tools via short-term rental property management platform, Guesty, to ensure quick responses to guests and potential guests, including providing any updates on COVID-19 related news. In addition, the company is providing SmartTV to keep guests occupied while quarantined.

How It Works

Those interested can head to helpthemhelpus.org and contact the Great Dwellings team, who will respond with available properties based on the inquirer’s specific needs. Properties available include townhouses and luxury, modern apartments.

In terms of pricing, on average Great Dwelling properties cost $200/night. Under this initiative, the listings are being offered anywhere from 50-100% off.

More Ways To Give Back

In addition to providing available stays near hospitals, the Help Them Help Us initiative is also pioneering a way for the DC community to give back to these frontline heroes by collecting donations that will go towards providing meals to those staying in their properties, as well as maintaining stringent cleaning procedures efforts in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Scarlett’s team is hoping to raise $100,000, and is also exploring opportunities to partner with other local groups to provide additional services, such as protective masks and equipment.
